JDM 06 GTB Upgrades

Postby andy_mac » Sat Feb 28, 2015 12:25 pm

I've had a stock tune done a while back but I'm now wanting to get a bit more out of it whilst retaining the stock turbo.

Thoughts so far are;

HKS downpipe
Turbosmart kompact BPV
Grimmspeed 3 port solenoid
Intake pipes, maybe some jacks-GTB ones if he still has any left

And handling;
white line front and rear sway kit 22/20mm
STI pinks springs

Thoughts on this? i know going 3 port and intake pipes probably aren't needed at this level but would there be any noticeable gains from having them?

When you say 06, just checking you mean MY06 :)
but yes, those mods will do you will, the only things I would add is a throttle body hose and catch can. You could also throw in an upgraded TMIC, mishimoto or process west are both good, depending on what you're going for. Also people seem to be getting good improvements with turbo beanies (I got one but haven't fitted it yet).
You also haven't mentioned a muffler/catback upgrade?

Not sure on MY but its a rev D so the first revision of the facelift spec b's. Assume that makes it a MY06

Ahh yea left out catback as I've already made my mind up on that front, going with a q300.

Hadn't actually considered a bigger tmic, was under the impression they weren't really needed unless going for a bigger turbo too.

One other thing I was thinking is do the vf46's, or whatever they are, sit in the exact spot as the twinscroll turbo's. My thought being a hks catted downpipe is North of 2000nzd shipped so would it be possible to get one for a vf46 and get the flange cut off and a twinscroll one put on. Tried searching around for this the other day but had no luck

Cool.

Rev D, facelift = MY07 (MY04-06 is prefl, 07-09 is postfl). JDM engine is still 2L, turbo could be a VF45 or a VF38 as per viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17112

Either way, twin scroll, but not a lot of top end.

You don't NEED a TMIC, however it'll give you decent gains, the stock one is sufficient, but not as good at flowing as the aftermarket ones.
