real td05-20G??

Postby GONEWALKABOUT » Mon Dec 01, 2014 9:17 pm

This may be a bit of a stupid question but i purchased the car with the turbo on and i was told it was a td05-16g as a rough guess by a mate who works with these turbos a fair bit.

However i spent today ripping everything apart in preparation for upgrading and when i ripped the turbo out it had a td05-20g badge on it..

Question was, could it be miss-badged or are td05-20g not really that big after all?

Physical specs:
Compressor housing seems to be 14-15cm
Turbine housing seems to be 10cm

Score! Good little turbo. I made 290kw at the wheels with something similar. It was fast. But revving it to 8.2k eventually munted a rod bolt. Who knew?
What injectors do you have in it?
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Lemme know if you want some 850cc side feeds.........edit: won't fit. For some reason I thought you were cool and had a 2.0. :)

I am willing to forgive and forget. So, on the exhaust housing of the turbo , on the side that faces the compressor housing, there is a number, what is it?

I am thinking there is going to be a number 8 cast somewhere on the exhaust housing. Indicating it is an 8cm rear.

I thought that too but it doesnt perhaps because its mostly a ebay branded turbo?
There is however an 8.06 diameter band holding the two housings together in the middle. Reckon thats tell tale?

Nah, the 8cm relates to the cubic area of the inlet to the turbine.
