So I've been browsing Yahoo Auctions Japan and looking at what Intercoolers are still available for the Pre-facelift BP5/BL5 Liberty for a reasonable price.

I've come across a Intercooler that seems to be of reasonable quality which can be had for around $500 delivered brand new. Has anybody on here heard of this brand or purchased products from them before?

They actually tested this on a recent episode of mighty car mods, and showed that painting in fact makes it a more efficient heat exchanger. However that is possibly an issue with a tmic because it will heat soak faster when stopped. Tbh though the actual real effect on performance i think is negligible.

I might have to remove my stock Intercooler one day and compare the measurements with this intercooler.

I don't plan on chasing high power figures but would like an intercooler that is more efficient than the factory one without spending an arm and a leg.

If you ask me nicely, I can measure the stock one sitting in my garage for you - I'll do it on the weekend some time.

Sorry, you are wrong, that episode has been busted by an engineer and his argument is sound.

It wasnt really busted. All the bloke did was reinterpret MCM results, in a more correct manner. Despite this bloke preaching that you should never paint your intercooler black as it is 3 degrees Celsius less efficient via convection, no one that i could find has tested the actual significance of these numbers. Cooler is better yes but 1. When do you ever use your intercooler to its fullest ability when not on track. 2 what happens when your intercooler is over spec'd anyway. 3. can always put heat wrap on the cooler near the turbo. 4. is 3 degrees significant? does that difference increase, decrease or remain the same at increased speeds?

I have a black heat exchanger ...... Have to for stealth reasons

Just saying spraying black is not best, MCM were not correct, adding insulation will not help transfer but you do what you must.

If I had the option I would go bare metal for any intercooler if the option is there.

3degrees cooler would be an increase in power. Perhaps someone can quantify?
