Black exhaust tips

Postby OzSTi » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:49 am

I'd like a little more boxer noise and so am considering my options, BUT on a cosmetic note has anyone seen black exhaust tips.

If you've seen the car you know my black on white theme and so it seems logical to extend this to the exhaust.

I'm thinking a black satin crackle effect with rolled lip. Is there such a thing?

Whatever mufflers you end up getting, just get a can of Matt Black spray paint and paint the tips. I have had this done to a previous car that I had a rear dump tip on and it looked good.

Easy to do and takes 10 minutes.

But Crackle paint, don't do it

Or, I got bored and did a little searching

did anyone else notice how awesome this guy's garage is?

and skooby's comment is highlighted in concurrence. black tips would look good but do it properly.
there is people who get away with doing things on the cheap but on your car everything is so spot-on.
Don't start cheapening the look now mate or i'll have to confiscate it next time i come to visit my mum in adelaide!

Black tips would look rather good.

If you stray it, make sure you hit it with some primer first. Should help it in the long run.

You may also be able to look at powder coating the tips. Get in contact with Leo (HKS180) as he has a contact that does some very good work... Well, here in Sydney anyway. :P

Thanks Skooby for your searching, I hadn't thought to look at accessory places. Some of those black chrome ones are getting close to what I was thinking, but at 4&3/4 inches (12cm) that's huge!

I've just measured the stock oval tip and it's 12cm X 9cm so this black chrome one could be virtually the same!

Im not sure about Black tips, looks like the owner got really half ass'd and didnt clean his car till the tips went black, Even on Jims lib and he loves that i reckon it gives the 'dirty' effect
