What wheel nuts (and lock nuts) should I get?

Postby Manaz » Wed Jun 11, 2014 11:17 am

Hi all,

I've got JDM STI rims (similar to the post-FL TbSTI models, but in a 17x7.5" fitment). I've lost a lock nut, and have had to throw a spare nut onto the car to cover for it, but don't want my wheels to be stolen, so need to get a new set of lock nuts.

Just wondering what lock nuts people recommend/are using, and what nuts (in general) people feel will suit the STI rims?

McGard spline drive. Can be sourced from lugshack. Last set I ordered were around $120-130

OEM STI nuts are McGards but cost around 3x as much

They're just some random ones I saw...but how do you know they're fake (besides the one negative buyer comment)?

Muteki ones can be had for $50 genuine :)

Edit:  ok I see the other 3 customer replies. :(

Alas, they're out of stock. I do also wonder about the 60º vs 40º seating as well.

I've emailed them to see what they say.

The problem with these cheap nuts is the finish chips off very easily and then they look like crap.

Get your nuts from a reputable source.

There's nothing worse than unreputable nuts. :)

(I'd go for the STI ones, but $400+? Pass).

Ah, ones that fitted my MY13 Lib .
I "think" they are pretty much the same for Gen IV and V, as well as Forester, but don't quote me! Use the car model settings on the left of the website to get the correct fit.

They have stock coming in on Monday, waiting for an answer on the seating angle.
