MAX POWER DAILY DRIVER, WHAT PARTS?

Postby nonricer » Sun Jan 19, 2014 3:53 pm

Hey guys, i am wondering what parts to add to a 2010 Subaru Liberty GT auto.
What is the maximum power for a daily driver, and what parts should i use.
I have considered MRT, but i have heard some bad things about them?
There are parts like cold air induction kits, bigger turbos and exhaust systems, but which specific parts.
Also are there any diff gear upgrades?
THANKYOU, YOUR REPLIES ARE MUCH APPRECIATED.

You're 16 and own a 2010 Lib GT? Interesting

Have you had a look around the forum? There's bucket loads of info on here. Not so much GenV specific, but in general.

Hmmm. 16 year old looking for more power out of an already reasonably quick car.

Shall I call the paramedics now?

Power mods are proportional to other mods. If you want it to go faster, you have to also spend money to make it then and stop. For a daily a tune, exhaust and air filter would be sufficient. Bigger turbos and FMIC, injectors etc get pricey and supporting mods are needed.

there is no such thing as max power, if you have a bottomless wallet.

What is your budget? It makes a big difference if you can spent $2000 or $20000 or $200000

Wish I had parents like yours if this is your first car!! Unless you started saving way back even before you were conceived...

Well the Gen V GT already has a significant power increase from it's predecessors (eg Gen 4 etc)... for me, I've recently come from an NA 2.0L to a 05 2.0L GT, and find the power increase significant in itself! Yes it has a tune and a few mods already done to it... but coming from an under powered NA to a vacuum cleaner... I'm still getting used to this! Learn how to walk first before you try to run...
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!

Might have to start a cool movie references thread.

Reminds me of that Liberty P plater that got his car impounded for street racing and then asked how he can get more power out of his car. LOL

Frankly you are better off concentrating on handling & stopping before you think about more power, particularly if you have very little experience behind the wheel. Get your suspension & brakes sorted then go to as many track days as you can. Make your mistakes on a track & learn the limits of handling where you don't have to worry about losing your licence or killing yourself &/or others. You also get to meet a lot of similar minded people who may be nice enough to take you for a lap in their ride so you can see how different mods effect the vehicle without first parting with your cash. Look at some of the build threads on here, you will learn a shitload!

Finally, as a very well respected rally driver once said, 'straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers'. Something to keep in mind...
