Run a Front Mount and a Top Mount??? (run a FMIC & TMIC??)

Here's where you can ask for suggestions what MODs you should consider. Let the experts tell you what you should add.

Awesome!

Speaking with a friend who is an engineer he says that a large as possible FMIC before the maf will definitely cool the intake charge while the car is moving and while fans are on. This would be drawthrough, but will it's cooling offset the flow penalty..?? Heat from rad will only be factor when stationary and fans not on....as soon as moving will cool down.

I'm looking into a cheap ducting idea before trying anything else.

I would love cold morning performance all the time!

Thanks for everyones input, funny & knowledgable so far.

J no need to complicate it in my opinion

Nothing wrong with a conventional fmic at all. Infact dollar for dollar it provides the best intake charge cooling available, and most consistently. TMIC are too inefficient at dissipating heat, and no matter how efficient, you will always have some engine bay heat come up and screw you.

Wta is over the top in my opinion too. Unless running a barrell cooler with dry ice or something, and in short bursts. I don't see the benefit.

Fmic after the turbo and before the intercooler and be done with it
Addicted to corn juice....

something a bit amiss there.

I'd be running the AFM in the cold-side piping between FMIC and Throttlebody

Oops

Meant fmic after the turbo and before throttle body

Just a few factors to consider:

Shortest inlet path possible, least joins, most secure joins e.g. Wiggins or HDI clamps, a balanced approach to core size and thickness so airflow to radiator etc. is not restricted, intelligently controlled waterspray on air cooled heat exchangers to mitigate heatsink effect.

OT... the latest issue of Performance Imports has a pic (from TAS?) of the latest Mazda inline four turbo diesel built for Le Mans, it features a tasty compound turbo setup with a barrel WTA between the two compressors ;)
