P-Plate Legal Mods for GenV Liberty

Postby LibertyJackkk » Wed Sep 11, 2013 9:36 pm

Hey guys,

I've got myself a 2011 Liberty Sports Premium and really want to start modding him but have no idea where to start.

I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions for both performance and appearance related mods, keeping in mind I'm on my Ps so they need to be P-Plate legal unfortunately :(

Even still, any suggestions or advice would be great.

Thanks in advance.

You can do anything that doesn't require a mod-plate (engineering certificate)

^ Pretty much this. You could add sway bars, body kit parts, HID headlights, LED interior/exterior lights.

I just installed a Cusco strut brace, which is a pretty cool mod - quite simple and cheap, but a fairly good gain in terms of feel.

Try Garage 88, they have a lot of GenV stuff.

Cool thanks for that :)

Now, as I am such a total noob, what exactly does a strut brace do?

It will prevent your strut towers from moving inwards, forcing your suspension to be the only part that gives.
You will find that your steering feels a little more precise when cornering, especially over rougher roads.

Also, the ECU is fully tuneable and there is some free power lurking in the engine bay waiting to be unlocked :)

Hmmm, that definitely sounds interesting. How would I find out more about that? And is it P plate legal?

For your first question, I'd send two PMs: one to Eric (Gen5is) asking for his first hand experience - he just got his 2.5 NA tuned by Matt, and then your other PM would be to Matt himself! (Kido_Tuning)

As for your second question - I would be more inclined to say yes, given you are not changing any mechanicals... the only thing being done is within the ECU itself

The thing you do need to be very mindful of, is a tuned ECU (not done by Subaru) means your new car warranty could/is put at risk (ie. becomes voided)
