Thanks for the advice Simon, PMs sent :)

From a quick google search it seems that ECU tuning is not legal for P plates but my issue with that is, how would they know? Short of strapping it to a dyno and testing the power..?

As for the warranty, thanks for the warning. It may sound a bit silly but I actually haven't checked the status of the warranty since I bought it (2nd hand). Might be worth a look but it is nearly 3 years old so might not worry too much about it.

I don't think there actually is a separate list of permitted mods for P-Platers vs everyone else (bar power limits), and even that is predominantly targeted at factory out-of-the-box power, not mods.

And as already stated, how is anyone going to know you've tuned your car? It's going to be the more visual and audible aspect that gets you pulled over (burnouts, loud exhaust, wheels that stick out, etc).

Anyway, as a P-Plater, I wholly encourage you to do some track days (once or twice a quarter each year does wonders) - you'll get any and all speed out of your system, and it will make you a better and more passive driver on public roads too.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Yeah that was my thought too, short of strapping a massive turbo and intercooler to the engine, I doubt they'd really have any idea. And I'm definitely not a hoon, even in the XR6 I refused to do anything silly. I'm always too worried I'll damage the car lol.

I'd actually thought about track days, definitely sounds like something I'd be interested in. Thanks :)
