Exhaust system

Postby suby11 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 11:23 am

I am thinking of doing my exhaust system on my 07 GT SpecB and was wondering which one to get.

I want the boxer rumble but do not want it loud in the car or sounding like a biy racer car.

I have heard the STI mufflers and they sound really nice but I dont want to spend $3k on mufflers alone, may as well get a full exhaust.

Looking at turbo back not cat back.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Stand corrected.

I would just get a good custom set up from an exhaust place (~$2000 for a tbe)

check out hitech mufflers. they got turbo back systems straight off the shelf with the quad tip style muffler (like the sti style mufflers)

STi mufflers aren't worth $3k, don't know where you got that from. From Subaru, aren't they $1400? Plus, they pop up for sale every now and again for about $500-700.

Hey mate but the MY07's GT do have unequal headers :)

Actually it's even worse now. Subaru has up'd the price of the STi mufflers for the Liberty. I think it used to be under $3k last year. This year it's gone up to $3,800 AUD.

If you check out http://sti.subaru.com.au/sti-performance/search-performance-parts-/ you'll get the latest prices from Subaru Australia.

I think they try to justify the price by calling it a muffler "kit". So the kit consists of about $1,400 for a pair of mufflers, and then $1,417.35 for the gaskets and bolts. I think they throw in a protective cardboard box for free.

Part No:ST4430021050
RRP (unfitted): 3817.35

Components:The STI muffler kit contains two uniquely designed twin-tip rear mufflers. Each muffler has polished stainless steel outlets that emanate a sporty boxer tone.

Haha. It's cool, dude. No need to apologise. :good: I think the lesson here is: For the love of god, don't buy STi mufflers from Subaru!

Interestingly enough, if you change your year to 2005, the exhaust price is a lot cheaper. Isn't it the same part and interchangeable??

Anyways - the ones I got were off an 07 GT STi, so it's worth $3800.

Do you want to buy it at half price of $1600? :)

Should be interchangeable. Haha. I think Subaru heard you about the price difference.

Even though I didn't try it before, if I try to look for the exhaust between the 2004-2006 model years it doesn't come up. Only for 2007 onward.
