Postby datcho » Fri Aug 16, 2013 8:41 am

i currently have 18x8.5 +44 on my car now, wanting to know if 18x8 +35 would have any issues compared to my current wheels?

Depends on a few factors. Is your car lowered from stock already? Do you have your guards rolled? Will you be running any negative camber relative to OEM setup?

You can run these wheels but you'll need rolled guards at a minimum and some negative camber to avoid scrubbing.

I'd recommend rolling the fronts + some camber bolts as you'll probably need some more negative camber at the front.

Nah you will shit it in mate. I'm running 9.5 wide +35 lowered more than s techs slightly. Would depends on tires though. 225 40's would be max without rolling.

Will fit as long as guards are rolled and you have a bit of stretch on the tyres. Enough just so the sidewalls aren't straight up and down. Possibly rear camber bolts

It will be "aggressive fitment".

No idea what you guys are on about?

Going from 18x8.5 +44 to 18x8 +35 will result in 2.6mm more poke - sweet f@&k all....

Since the wheels are not as wide with more offset you will gain 15.4mm of clearance from your suspension etc

Your numbers are correct, but 3mm is only SFA if you've already got room to spare (both physically and legally). Having been down this path, I'd argue that 8.5 +44 is already just about at the limit before you start getting into aggressive fitment.

Consider both that the correct tyre to mount on that wheel is a 225, which will almost certainly hit the guards without camber and pulling AND that a +35mm offset is illegal in every state that I know of ... and it's definitely aggressive fitment.

Again, this is a case of doing things in reverse. Don't buy wheels that don't fit and compromise tyre choice, alignment and legality for your aggressive fitment. Decide what tyre size you want, then work backwards from there.

Did I not mention that?

Just kidding. There's far, far worse out there.

We test fit 19x8.5 +35 on simons wagon and the rim sat flush with the body work.

agreed. weren't your xt7's 8.5 +44? you would have needed a roll with the 235s you had on them?

+46

Guards were rolled and pulled by the best panel beater in Qld.

That was the limit without going to 2 deg of negative camber, which I did not want.
