Low beam & Fog light replacements

Hi Guys,

I've got a 2007 GT Spec.B...
Looking for some advice regarding lox beam & fog light replacements...

What replacement options do i have for low beams?

As for fog lights I've done some research & am considering either of the following:
Philips HB4/9006 - 3100K (1800 Lumen)
Philips HB4/9006 - 4000K (1450 Lumen)
*not sure what would be better / what the difference would be*

Appreciate the advice in advance.

Your low beams should be 4200-4300k. The best spread of light. As you go up to 5000 (pure white) and 6000 (white with slight blue) the dispersion levels drop noticeably.

Foggies you can either go LED or HID. I personally prefer HID, but quite a few are happy with LED's.

I have 5000 and didn't notice any drop in visibility over stock. I personally wouldn't go higher though.

4200-5000 is your kind of white range 6000+ is blue/purple and 4000- is yellow/orange.
5500 is supposed to be white but lights at that temp have a blue look to the eye.

As you go bluer you will lose usable light output.

LED fogs are not so bright, HID are more hassle. There is nothing wrong with halogens for foggies either. Easiest solution with fine light output.
For foggies they are either for fog/dust/rain/etc. or for show (and pissing other road users off). If you want it for fog, halogens are fine, and even if you want them for show you can get halogens pretty cheaply in basically any temp you want to match your headlights or whatever you are after.
You don't necessarily have to have yellow for best fog penetration, it is fine to use white.

Basically it just comes down to what colour you prefer to have and if you are willing to sacrifice visibility for the more extreme colours.

I'm currently running Philips Crystal Vision bulbs for my fogs (4300K) which I bought off eBay for half the price of shop rrp, and running similar 4300K H7 bulbs for my headlights (Narva brand). Nice even white/blue tinge light throughout, although I want to get rid of those and complete my whole set with the Philips series.

I'm using the Philips Xtreme vision, and was doing so in my last legacy aswell
I used all different combo's in the legacy, Blue vision, diamond vision, crystal vision and the warmer Xtreme Visions provide more light on the road
they are teh same colour temp as Blue Visions which I run in the foggies as the Xtreme's weren't available in the correct base.

also FYI, pure "white" light is 6500 degrees Kelvin.
however headlight glass and plastic and the reflections and refractions within them will colour the light that comes from the globe itself.

And human sight has a great tendenency to see things in a relative sense as opposed to an absolute sense.
example, turn on one 6500K globe in a room lit with 300K halogens, the 6500K light will look blue.
but spend time in a room lit with 8000K lights and then turn on a 6500K light, it'll look yellow.

I've seen so much conflicting information on that that I'm not sure what to believe (not that it really matters but I get interested in random things). I've seen everything from high 4s to mid 6s.

I know my eyes looking at light bulbs are definitely not scientifically accurate but to them 6500 is most certainly bluer than white.

I believe pre & post facelift are different.
Post facelift is HB4.

have your TV or PC monitor calibrated with a colorimiter and see how much more natural everything looks...

it just so happens that 6500K is the temperature of Natural diffuse daylight on an overcast day.. NOTE: DAYlight, not SUNlight

ALSO NOTE:
any of the above images will look wrong if your monitor is not calibrated to use a white point of 6500K
if your monitor has these options, either sRGB preset, or 6500K preset, use it.
you're probably used to looking at a cooler picture and the same with your TV at home, so it will look too warm to begin with, but give it a few hours and your eyes will adjust

Thanks for the info.

I think most screens are generally set too warm.
When we calibrated our work monitors properly they appeared a bit blue until you get used to it.
