Ahhh the age old debate...

It all comes down to exactly what you are wanting to get out of your car, be it in the short term & the long term.

If your not chasing the big numbers & you just want to get a bit of a gain, a TMIC is a good option - Perrin make the biggest & the best for the EJ25T Libs.

If your chasing the big numbers now or further down the track, the a FMIC is the way to go... I'd have a chat to PHAT GT about the options there & most of the bolt on kits available require removal of the fog lights & a generally not the best design overall.

I'll be interested when someone comes up with a fmic that doesnt require cutting of the car. If you have to hack up the support bar/bumper, etc it shouldnt be there.

The large name aftermarket tmics support easily over 200kw's at the wheels. Do you see yourself aiming higher than this?

yeah unfortunately in most FMIC setups you need to deal with the harsh reality of bumper beam support deletion and cutting of the front bar.

When i get my chance again i will redo the FMIC in mine to have those issues corrected.

Having said that i spoke to the owner of Plazaman in Sydney a while ago and he said he would develop a kit with a bumper beam support bar and minimal cutting of bar and leaving the existing airbox in place for the 4th Gen Libs and onwards if i was able to leave the car with him for a week. Unfortunately i am in Melbourne.

Here is what they do for imprezas, not too hard to replicate for Libs just need a donor car.

So if anyone in Sydney can be the test mule, i would be a potential customer of their new FMIC kit down the track. We need such a local kit here in Oz, as there are plenty of these types of kits stateside.

From the research I did, I would say go with a ProcessWest TMIC(same as MY08 WRX). That should fit straight in from all the indicators and is as big as a small FMIC.

Also allows you to go for the standard exit turbo if you'd prefer down the track.

Not sure about that convo, but I am well aware of the shortcomings of my setup as noted, won't deny it. However it is on the to do/fix list.
