Hey guys,

Just wondering if the Ultrex front lip looks exactly the same as the authentic STi front lip? to me on the pics ive seen the Ultrex one looks a bit fatter and bulkier than the original? but i have never seen them in real life so cant tell?

what do you guys think? i like the price of ULTREX ones ~ $300 but if they dont end up looking as good as the real thing ill try and spend a bit more and get the real thing (if i can!)

would love to hear from anyone but particularly the ULTREX front lip owners with a Tuned by STi.

The sti lip has its advantages being are thinner cross section, it will flex when scraped….. The thicker lips tend to split.

is this something i should be contacting Phat GT about? or just buy straight from JDM? (for an MY06)

I've scraped my Ultrex lip quite hard many a time and no cracks. It is very flexible and strong.

The STI lip is stiffer as it is made out of resin as opposed to polyurethane like the Ultrex ones.

Phat gt will be your best contact, cheap and quick to deliver......also can install if your in Sydney

Get the real thing, they do look different and the ultrex one really isn't that durable, I've snapped the middle mount and one on the left. The STi lip will also fit better as the ultrex one doesn't fit perfectly (a bit like my ultrex grill).

Wish I'd paid more and got genuine items now - you nearly always save in the long run.

You just cant beat the fit and finish of oem.

How much did you pay for the STi front lip from PHAT GT?

cant remember exactly mate, but $750 -800 rings a bell, could've been a bit more, but was a while ago.
definitely worth it, changes the whole look of the car.

Buy the one from Ebay USA.......

I had missed this thread up until now as dont scan the forums a lot.

Our lips can be broken if you hit you something - they have a bit of flex but are made from a hard pu.

But yes as with many things on a car - its preferred to not hit them as then they can break - same as OEM.

OEM is generally perfect fitment - it doesnt get better than oem fitment on any parts - but our lips are less than half the price and are pretty nice quality. They are a replica of the oem lips.
