Your opinions plz (front bar mod)

Postby talev788 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:43 pm

I've been thinking of getting the radiator induction area of my front bar painted black..
I did a quick dodgy photoshop to see a rough idea of how it would look, I havent seen any Gen 3's with this and was wondering what you guys think.
I'm getting this done for free by my uncle who is a spray painter so im not exactly going to be splurging any cash over it.

thats ok everyone is entitled to an opinion.

main reason why i wanna do it is cos i hav a lot of scratchs in the area and i thought i may as well do it black to hide future scratches if they occur

I reckon it actually looks pretty good. Do it in a matt black if you can. Also, you might want to match the angle of the grill where it leads towards the top of the bumper if you know what I mean.
Car(s): Steel Silver MY10 GT Wagon + 1985 Subaru Sherpa

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

i say paint the mouth of it black, but leave a while lip underneath it (Like the Focus bar)
it mirrors the grille that way and also helps define the shape of the bar better

What I said was just poking fun at Shane.
You need to post a side by side pic of what it looks like currently/with the black for us to give you a proper opinion.

AAAAHHHH!!!! Forget what I said about trying to match up with the angle of the grill, I didn't realise it was an insert of sorts. Still think it would look great though.

I reckon it looks good. Matches both the black grille and the driving lights surrounds and gives the car a unique look.
