Carbon Wrap?

Just came across this product, what does everyone think?

I am typically violently opposed to cheap and nasty mods but possibly this used well might look good in the right place?

I think a few members on here have applied this stuff and have gotten good results. The vinyl is so much better than the plastic/paper IMO. I bought a pre-cut one for my iPhone 4 and the stuff works a treat! Great adhesion, clean, flexible, and pretty tough.

Couple of more threads with the stuff being used around too, Id want to use it on engine bay covers but not sure how it would suit with the heat and if it would all just catch on fire...

Also i think Shane is going to do his new Focus' roof with it...

The main convern I'd have if I did a larger area on the car, say the roof and/or bonnet, is all it takes is one wanker to come along and put a deep cut or scratch into it and it would need to be redone.

The stuff that Tai used (real carbon fibre weave with resin) is different to the OP's (3M Di-Noc vinyl).

The first would be fine in engine bay heat, the latter I would not expect the adhesive to hold up to all the hot/cold cycles. Also once heated the 3M stuff becomes very soft and pliable it would probably distort and come off or crinkle in the engine bay.

Another alternative is the matte black wrap... I know Motor Magazine has just wrapped their long term EVO X (Well, their new long term car since the original had the Recaros flogged at Sydney airport) & the results were very good... I saw a NC MX5 with it on the other day & was supprised about how good it really looked in the flesh.

If you were wanting to do bits & pieces in your engine bay, I'd probably just buy the replacement parts... There are heaps available these days, but the genuine stuff (K2 Gear, etc etc etc) are still very pricey.

Shane, can you get a bigger pic of your interior.
I hate to say it, but from those pics the interior looks kind of cheap, or is it supposed to be sort of like the WRX, doesn't take comfort in to account :)

Okay thanks Shane.
I didn't mean it to be personal, was just wondering what sort of range of car it was, as I really have no idea about them.
I was sort of thinking it would be the Focus version of the Golf R32 but I guess I was wrong.

-=sorry for the 4 month bump=-

Do you think you could do the inside door handles with this stuff?
How durable would it be?
