Has any one with an auto thought of swapping the shifter surround with one from a manual. I take really good care of my car but it is so scratched as they use that shiny glass look plastic for it. Would be interested to see if it is possible and if there are any issues with it.

Actually, it's more of a case of buying a leather boot & attaching it... A number of our members have done it (D_Liberty & jdm rsk).

You can actually buy them from Japan... Pretty sure Zero Sports & Liberal make them. Get in contact with Phat GT & he'll be able to sort you out

I am guessing that the boot comes with a replacement ring and just clips into place as there does not seem to be much room between the original one. Anyone know what it's worth Inc shiftter? ..........Phat.

No it doesn't come with a new ring... They just skiver the edges of the leather from what I understand.

im keen on doing this as well as mine is pretty scratched up.

as matt said same as myn but i got my from yahoo auction. i paid 600yen for 3 peice handbrake, shifter and centre console lid

didnt say that it would fit your car i was just showing you what it looks like. get one made by a trimmer. the plastic surround hold the boot in place

i did think of that but it is going to be a bitch to mod the plastic surround see the bellow pic.




That silver plastic ring sits really tight to the plastic centre.

i can only find the pre face lift liberal one on japan parts.

What about get something from Redline? Their manual boot may fit onto the plastic ring surround.

jim, where would i find redline. i typed in redline auto products into google an came up with like stuff for V8 holdens ect couldnt see anything about subaru sorry if im useless and just completly looked past it
