i sent redline an email as i couldnt see anything on their website.

and they replied with

We don't make boots for your car, I'm afraid, however if you'd be willing to work
with us developing them, we'd be more than happy to hook you up with our products
at no cost to you.

The manner in which we have devised almost all of our products is that once we
had a person interested in getting our boots for their car which we did not
support at the time, we'd offer them to send their current, stock items to us
to use as templates. Shift and ebrake boots we'll have to unstitch, so they
will not be returned. However armrest lids will of course be returned intact.
You will also receive everything else you send (trim pieces, trim rings,
etc.)

To express our gratitude for such an effort, we do give our leather boots for
free, but we require writing an installation write-up (you can find many of
those on our site, it's not that much work, just a description of pictures of
the steps you took to install them) and sending it to us via email along with
some after-installation pictures.

We also require a fully reimbursable deposit before we send out our product to
you. Unfortunately it has happened before that we never received the materials
we needed and we were out on a set of boots. Therefore since about a year ago it
is our policy that before the boots are put in the mail, we need a $50 (per
item) deposit via PayPal which will be returned to you in full once we receive
the materials we require.

This method has proven to work effectively for both sides and the list of our
products can be proof, that this can be done. We can also give you emails of
other people who have worked with us an can testify our honesty.

If you are still interested in doing this with us, please be so kind to let us

know.

So i dont know if i should go down this path or use something like the semi cover that only does the selection area like on japan parts.

if i need to send them my stuff im not sure what exactly i would need to send them and if i do send it to them would i still be able to use my car.

You don't really have anything to send them since there isn't an existing boot.

I was more suggesting see if you can buy a manual boot from them and fit it to your auto. The ring diameter for the shifter trim should be the same. The only unknown is whether it will work well with the shifter lever.

waiting to hear from redline, he is going to give me a guide to get some mesurements and some more photos for attachement points for the leather boot.

then we will see if it is going to give it the go ahead if it is possible. he said the handbrake boot will only take 2-3 day turn around.

Dom.
I installed a Liberal boot on our auto wagon.
Very really happy with it, although it was a little bit fiddly to install.
I will post up some pics tonight/tomorrow.

Cheers,
Rusty.

I'll add my 2c worth on this one...

just pop the ring feed it in the shift boot... cut the excess leather and put the ring back with the leather shift boot on the outside.

I've tried to have the silver ring on display but because it is flush it won't fit back properly.

I had bought a momo gear knob for my previous car so just bought a plain black momo shift boot (hacked it to bits because there was too much leather) and screwed it with the knob. tightened it around the gear stick and then popped the ring back down....

that's all there is to it... no dirt no scratches.....

if you're in sydney I can try and come to the next meet and show you....

Thanks for the link to Redline. I'm going to order a handbrake boot, since mine isn't very soft any more :P
