Powder coating wheels suggestions?

Postby talev788 » Thu Jul 08, 2010 7:37 pm

I want to have my WRX wheels a different colour and have them powder coated..
They are currently a champagne gold and all scratched up which i dont like at all

I was thinking either gloss black, white, or gun metal

what are your suggestions and thoughts?

Also if i had them white is there any special ways of avoiding the brake dust so much?

Michelin is one of many companies that make wheel dressing that makes brake dust not stick as easily. In the end white wheels will always be dirty the day after you wash them.

The old rule... Light coloured car = Dark wheels... Dark coloured car = light wheels.

If you do go white, an old trick I picked up from having chrome rims (Yes, yes, I know :P ) is to give it a good going over with Turtle Wax - This also works on windows to minimise road grime / dust - but obviously having a low dust brake pad is the best way to go.

The chrome colour on the stock 07 GTB Rims looks nice on white, if you are looking on moving away from black.
Although I guess they aren't exactly super chrome and more metallic or something....Chrome sucks anyways and is for ricers.

But what happened to the saying, once you go black you never go back?

ps - that gun metal colour cant be done by powder coating to my knowledge. could possibly get them painted but will cost a buket load. they are a shadow chrome.

I find that very hard to believe, powder coat can be done in chrome and even candy colours now so a simple gun metal would be no problem
