had the same trouble. to the point some times flat foot, and NO acceleration. turned out a big end was on its way, the knock sensor picked this up, and sets it in limp mode. also, check your fuel pump/filter. it may be lacking fuel pressure, leaning slightly, causing pinging, and the knock sensor to be triggering safe mod in the computer!

could of also been the FPR when the car come on boost under low RPM the FPR can maxout and run the car really rich causing a surge
