B4 Reflash with Pulse Racing

Postby benvw » Thu Sep 10, 2009 1:10 pm

Hi Guys,

Been slack and not put a post up about my results from the reflash. The only mods to my car is a k&n panel filter and a 500hp walbro fuel pump (noisy little bugger).

The car has done 130,000km and came in with about 125kw at the wheels. I drove it out with 175kw at the wheels. A nice increase and the VOD is some what less noticeable.

The car is much nicer to drive from go to stop. It has had a good increase in power and torque all the way across the range. I could definately recommend this mod. Wish I had done sooner. :)

Since I had my car reflashed I am having a little more trouble starting the car on cold starts. It starts and then stops. It always starts on the second turn of the key. before the reflash it always started first turn. I'm not sure if this is due to the fuel pump (walbro 500hp) or the reflash which were done at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I have uploaded the dyno - is this really over boost?

What was done to achieve "50kW increase"? That sounds awfully high on a near-stock car with no mods.
I'm thinking some boost increases. Decrease in VOD in tuning on a TT B4 involves overboosting the primary turbo to speed up the secondary turbo spool.
The fuel pump would not add any major increase in power, if you don't have any larger injectors or fuel pressure regulator.

"Decrease in VOD in tuning on a TT B4 involves overboosting the primary turbo to speed up the secondary turbo spool."

Thats a negatory. I will disprove this when I get home and access my Dyno sheets tomorrow.

dunno what thats meant to mean^ :angry2:

My before and after dyno manifold pressure of the primary just before the changeover are identical. In fact my primary is running LESS boost with the ecutek. Only peaks at 11psi. So Im not sure what you mean by "overboost" but my definition of overboost is exceeding the design rpm of the turbine shaft- and it sure as shit isn't doing that.

A little thing called timing is obviously the culprit for my tune, and before you go off bleating that my engine is going to explode, my AFR are a full point RICHER during the latter primary stage and changeover point, it never exceeds 11.5 A:F.

Not having a go at you Ben here, but I will agree with tangcla on the 50kw increase. Thats a big number. I "only" got 40kw extra and that was starting with an exhaust and intake.... Its a good number though, so as long as your happy!

It was a group buy orgainised by a liberty club member for queensland members and was done up in caboolture. The guys from pulse flew up from Sydney to do the group of cars. It cost me $1100. Cheap hp if you ask me. They are coming up again in a couple of months time. Look them up in Sydney or on the net as they have a webpage (http://www.pulseracing.com.au).

Cheers

To decrease VOD, you reduce the primary boost. Even if you push the Primary hard, it still drops in performance and boost drops when going dual mods.
