2003 JDM Subaru Legacy Twin Turbo - Tuning to Commence

Postby west_minist » Sat Apr 18, 2009 11:31 pm

I would like to thank Kosti for allowing me to experiment in tuning the Twin-Turbo models on his car back in 2007. After that turning, where we brought the power up to over 300whp on the 4EAT, I have tuned many Twin-Turbo after and I just love this model. The 3R takes tops, but the twins are just sweet and looks sweet too.

The car below is one such car I will be working on and I am hoping that it is a true RSK, because I want to get 280-300+whp out of it.

I have been with this car way back in 2007 and now the owner is ready to start tuning early Sunday morning.

From the site, you can see the progress in power as he undertake his mods. His very last mod was swapping the 4EAT out after it suppose to have failed to a 5MT. After that, he said the car felt better and the Dyno graphs states so too.

I haven't driven it yet, but I can tell you,its one quiet Legacy for a straight through exhaust design. I mean quiet.

I have tuned many cars and I have an idea how it suppose to sound and feel. Because we are a small country and a lot of rallying, the customer expect to and close to have a very nice car. So with that mental and audio picture, I want no less than to have little traction. Once this can be achieve, he will be happy for what this stock car has to offer.

So far EGT's look good and pinging is a little stock. This is one car that I was always impress with. Will post back once data is in.

I notice yesterday when I drove behind him, which I already knew, the car is running rich, which is normal for all Subaru's, especially decatted, puffs of black smoke. During the gathering of Logs, it left my LM1 black. So for me, bring the fuel in line, I cannot wait to hear it and be environmentally clean.

The tuning was delayed for today. There was just too much rain for road tuning and the customer did a full under body wash. lol.

But I took the time to prepare the maps I am feeling for this car, including playing around the idea of Antilag around the shifting area when the full turbo's are in operation. I will see.

Hey guys!

The tuning was put on hold due to the customer starting work on his house. I am hoping to get it finish soon, but I guess many of you can understand those needs.

on another note, during that period, I tuned a nice EDM WRX and retuned a JDM WRX with antilag. Both cars are nice, but the JDM is sweeter :)

Hey. Never got an update on this. Since then the Owner sold the car for an STI. Never got chance to start tuning on it. But it was a nice car.

So you have two ECU's?

The twin is nice, but I find the best time is when both are running. But I can tell you, I just love this model over the new ones. I am sorry I never owned a B4 TT 5MT.

I would just keep it stock with a TMIC w/ IC spray, BOV and 20psi :) yeah yeah yeah and add all the stuff I do with STI's/WRX's. lol all on 18" w/ Ohlins Coilovers :)

There is nothing like a B4 TT ride!!!

On another note, a friend out of England did a Hydra conversion. No word on the Vipec yet. I still have yet to install the Hydra in my car. With the reason addition of my baby girl and the recession, more delays........
