ECV valve removal for porting

II hope someone here may be able to help.
Whilst i have the ECV off of the car it makes sense for me to have it ported, and I've noticed that some members on here have done this.
so! how on earth is the valve itself removed from the unit to allow access to the port? I would have expected some sort of grub screw or cir-clip.
Photo attached showing the stopper, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
