Any cheap performance parts around please??

Postby Rickybobby » Sun Aug 31, 2014 4:12 pm

I just scored myself a stock 2001 b4 with 83000km on it. I really wanna get the thing flying!!

Does anybody have some performance parts at the right price, or know where to get them?

I'm also open to ideas on what upgrades should be done for maximum performance. :assassin:

MRT in Sydney are trying to sting me $1600 for a tune and $2500 for an exhaust, I don't think I'll rush into that purchase.

$4100 and still a fair way off the mark for upgrades. I don't mind spending a bit of cash, but I don't want to pay top dollar for everything...

I just wanna go fast.. :)

Save yourself the dollars and heartache - if you want to go fast, buy an Evo, Silvia et al. Or if it must be a Subaru, then a gc8 which will only need 220-230awkw to feel like a rocket ship.

Subaru's, budget and fast don't go together. And once you're in - you're in.

Just some friendly advice not wanting to be condascending.

Good luck

If you really want to do it properly, and not waste money, you'll want to get ride of the twin turbo set-up and drop in an STI EJ207 twin scroll single turbo engine. That would get you a much better platform to work with rather than trying to polish the turd that is the twin turbo. You'll only get so far trying to coax power out of the TT and for what you'd spend you could pick up an early GDB Impreza STi half cut.

the TT engine itself is ok.
high compression does aid in spooling up bigger turbo's faster.

But as said above. the TT system is highly compromised and restrictive.

you've got 83,000km on it.
it's nearly due for a timing belt. my suggestion is to pull the motor, convert it to single turbo operation, replace timing belt, seals, gaskets, check on the clutch, and put it all back together.
you can keep it as sleeper as you wish with a quiet exhaust.
but really, the bonnet scoop and B4 badge give it away every day of the week.
