225/45-17's fine as replacement for stock 215's?

Hi folks, just purchased a 2001 MY02 B4 Liberty, need new tyres.
In previous cars I've increased the tyre width 10mm with no problem, will a set of 225's leave enough clearance at full lock and agains fenders? Anyone running 225's?

Cheers :)

I run 225/45/17 on 7" rims with 52mm offset on stock suspension and have no clearance issues at all.

Wonder what offset the stock bbs rims are.
Thanks for feedback, pretty sure a 10mm increase should be ok eh.

I think the stock wheels are 55mm offset. If I'm wrong, am sure a more knowledgable forum member will correct that shortly.

Yep +55. Pretty much all stock subarus are +55 except forester which is +48.

As for 225/45/17 on your 7" it will be fine clearance wise, you'll just have the tyre hanging further over the rim that's all.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Sweet, 225 Conti extreme contact DW's it is :)

Going to cost AUD830 delivered approx for 4 from the states, then take em to Spinning Wheel for fitting and balance, giggidy.

Had RE11's on my last car, they were amazing. Not expecting the same levels of grip, but for the family driver, the contis should be a good tyre.

I doubt anywhere in Aus could match that price?

I have 225/40/18 on mine, stock suspension, and clearance to the strut is a bit tight but it doesn't scrub or touch. The wheels are 18x7 +55 so the rolling diameter will be similar to your 17s with the same offset/width.
