Gear ratios

Postby Jamo » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:20 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to pick up a B4 on the East Coast, and drive it back to Perth across the Nullabor.

I'm not fussed either way on an auto or manual - however know that the auto is a 4 speed, whilst the manual obviously has the extra cog.

Any ideas what the ratios are like in both boxes - and what the different rev ranges are at around 120 km/hr? If the auto is doing 4K for 48 hours, I'm likely to get a little tired of that!

Cheers

I think 120 is ~3100rpm but I'll check for you tomorrow, that's in a manual. Did 120 all the way back from Sydney (to Canberra) the other day with no worries at all, and my exhaust is louder than stock. It's pretty comfy to cruise in, bar the lack of cruise control!
