CEL on, then disappeared next morning

Postby lkcameron » Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:02 pm

Got a question guys. Was taking the B4 for a bit of a blat. It's normally pretty well treated, but decided to blow the cobwebs out for a couple of minutes.

I was accelerating through about 130kmh in 4th when all of a sudden I felt an instant drop in power, and at the same instant, my check engine light came on.

I limped it home at 60kmh (only about 5km's) and parked it overnight.

Pugged in an OBD-II cable in it this afternoon to try and read off the trouble code, but now the CEL is off, and the OBD-II reads no error codes.

Anyone got any ideas?

Car is a 2002 B4 sedan.

Sounds like it boost cut. Same thing on a Gen 4 if the ECU detects a huge boost spike it will cut boost and put the car in to limp mode with a CEL.
That will clear itself after restarting the car.
