Why are Gen 4 Liberty sedans no longer called B4 in AU!?

A lot of countries are still getting cars badged B4.. Basically, any Gen 3 or later AWD Liberty / Legacy with Bilsteins is a B4, with 3.0R B4 (non-turbo) variants seen in New Zealand...

Whereas in AU, the gen 4 "B4" is not called the GT in sedan variant, where the 'GT' badge has traditionally only be worn by the wagons, right back to Gen 1 RS days! As well, the GT base models do not feature Bilstein suspension with these designated 'Spec B'..

Any guesses? Maybe S.AU was embarrassed by the poor 'aussie' tune that has left a bigger than expected 'Valley Of Death" (that takes a good while to learn to "drive around it")? This, coupled with the tendency for detonation on hot days and after 'stopping for a short while' (heat-soak) that, IF NOT RETUNED, causes big end bearing failure.. don't worry, there's a bunch of options to retune, even attaching a laptop, downloading some FREE software and doing it yourself!!

What I want to know is did they screw up the B4 brand so much here that they have moved away from the name for the gen 4's? As mentioned, in Japan and places like Singapore, our fellow Legacy (In Australia, the Legacy bears the name Liberty out of respect for Legacy Australia, an organisation which aids veterans and their families during and after wars) drivers still (rightly?) called MY04-~ the B4!

So here in AU, it is the gen 3 twin turbo only that we know as (the mighty) B4!!!

What's your opinion of both the 'Legacy / Liberty' and 'B4 / GT Spec B / 3.0R-B' name changes? A bit of a shame or no real drama?

The 3.0R B4 makes no sense.. the "B" designates "Boxer" and "4" being the number of cylinders (Subaru obviously didnt carry this terminology past the B4 as there would be a great deal of confusion :) due to the Outbacks etc being a H6..

So why would new zealend have a B4 H6?

Bloody Kiwi's

B=Bilstein 4= AWD aqpparently, hence the 3.0R-B is a B4 elsewhere in the world, has been since MY98(?) and I guess still is today...
