Are the power gains comparable with a unichip?? (if you just reflash the stock ecu??)
I don't know much about this stuff, just trying to learn.

Am planning on a tbe, cai at this stage.

wow lazyness abounds on these forums of late. Look in the B4 forum about 10 topics down from this one and you will see at least 2 different forms of ECU reflashing and their results!

Pretty sure I just asked for opinions about unichips vs ecu reflashes......
I'm pretty sure the title clearly states I'm interested in finding stuff out unichips

Mate, it wasnt meant as a lecture. Im not going to get into a flame war about this, just a little miffed about why some great threads with a lot of info about tuning dont seem to have been read, particularly with cars with similar mods to what you mentioned. This wasnt just directed at you imprezab.

btw, Im not aware of any B4's on this or other suby forums with a unichip.....might be saying something.

I was just interested in the Unichip. My mate said that he knew a guy selling one for relatively cheap that might fit on it. Was just keen for info if anyone knew about them.

Sounds like my best bet is just to get the Ecu flashed.
Tis all good.

Im all for reflashing, but looking at the printouts from ECUTEK vs the Unichip one (Or even a HKS AF meter controller) well Im more inclined to get a piggyback or custom tune.
Btw to my knowledge the correct unichip for a B4 is a Type C...I bought a C unit with a harness adapter a while back for my old car, and was told it came off a B4.

ECUTEK

Unichip

And a very interesting autospeed article regarding the HKS unit. (To me is seems to have the nicest curve)

The unichip seems to have higher torque all up, granted that may be putting more streess on the primary.
But the VOD reduction speaks for itself.
I know these company's would show their best readings, so dont look too much into peak power (Plus everybody knows torques where its at ;) )
Alot of these results would depend largley on the tuner, and I cant see why there would be much of a difference between the different options.
