engine light

Postby BE4ORE » Mon May 12, 2014 2:25 pm

Hey guys,

When i recently purchased my B4, looked all good from the naked eye but when i drove it home on the day... i notice the engine light come on.

I kept going as the thermostat was all good and the whole car felt solid so i wasn't much worried.

As i have been driving it till now, i have noticed a few trends to as when it comes on but dont know the cause.

* when im cruising in a straight line and doing between 80-100+km/h and the revs are sitting at about 2,700rpm
* doesn't affect the engine or the car or the driving
* as soon as i come to a complete stop, i count to about 7-8 seconds and the light goes away.

What could be causing this exactly? very puzzled...

Hope someone can help.

Hey there,

This is kind of strange for me, but where are you located?

We might be able to organise to catch up and plug in a diagnostic tool to see if there are any codes.

Hey Brian,

No strange feelings here mate lol... Just car stuff hehe!

I live in northern suburbs (crazyburn) n ill have a guess you live in eastern suburbs cos that's where all the cool cars are lol.

But that would be good if you can help plz. Would really appreciate that.

Thanks.

pretty easy i suppose. if you can position yourself so the back of your head is resting on your brake pedal. legs out of the car. looking up with a torch you will see a pair of white, green and black connectors. located more towards the clutch side.

excuse the crappy photo

I ended up going to a local mechanic which helped me read the codes with a scanner... I got two codes (P0171 & P0335)... Googling them and it shows one being the crank sensor and the other being something to do with with air leakage or something to do with being lean?

Where do I start or do?

Thx.
