MY10 GT Mcintosh Sat Nav - iPhone address book and song list

I have just purchased my car and have successfully paired the iPhone through Bluetooth setup (can make and receive calls) but when I try to "import" the address book the Bluetooth disconnects and you can't transfer any names or numbers. The Dealer has suggested they all have to be either created individually or imported individually, but that doesn't make sense.
Also wanted to know if anyone has had the USB option installed for $ 450 so you can use the HU to see song lists etc and make changes/selection - must say I am not happy to have found out you have to buy this option after I bought an RCA lead set and USB charger adapter and can't see any song details on the HU

G'day Rimsky, welcome to the forums.
Probably just better off adding the contacts in manually as not many people here have MY10's.
Could you explain this USB 'option', sounds pretty dodgy to me to be $450?

I suggest you make a proper introduction post in the intro section to get the proper welcome from the forum members also!

Cheers,
Kieran.

I think you have to import the contacts manually. This is because of a limitation in the iPhone that doesnt allow bluetooth transfer of files and crap.

This isn't a restriction of the IPhone as I imported my contacts in one go through my TomTom.

From what I read earlier, theres two types of address book transfer protocols, the iPhone (and Android) dont support one type and its the type used by the mcintosh. There was a long thread on another site about it, someone even had their HU replaced. Apparently it works fine on blackberry, but ive never worried about it on my nexus one.

The $420 ipod cable will show the folder structure on the screen and allow you to see and select songs, if youre not moving.

I just use bluetooth streaming.

I have a Nokia phone and I could only transfer individually via transferring business card addresses, Same as above, I could transfer OK on the Tom Tom. Just something to live with, I don't need to update my phone address book that often but it's still a disappointment that Subaru could not get it right.

I imported all mine in one go frem a Nokia e66 no probs.

I also marked and imported a few in one shot from an Android (Galaxy S) no probs.
So I think the Subaru is ok, or I got lucky twice?

What did annoy me is I have multiple numbers on most of my phone contacts, as would most people I expect, and I had to go thru the Subaru contacts one by one to clean out the duplicates.
Last time I just entered the ones I need manually as it worked out faster.

What did you do on the galaxy to send the contacts?

I tried a HTC Mozart, winmo 7 waits for the import to be kicked off from the phone too.

I went into contacts on the phone, selected the ones I wanted to send and chose send namecard via bluetooth. The car warned me the bluetooth connection would be dropped, I pressed ok and add and it worked.
