Sorry to bring this back up again, and start a new thread, but i am super desperate to get some new music on my MY05 GT mac stereo

What about this one? Is this the cable that isn't working or has blown up head units in the past?
and would this set up work on its own or is there other parts i need?

That is a version of the one that has either worked perfectly, fried the deck, been shipped to the customer different to the e-bay description.
If you really wanted this unit, I'd recommend getting them to open the packet from one from the production batch they are currently shipping, take photos and e-mail them to you and if it is useable, then buy it.
By reading the e-bay listing, this one only has a 3.5mm input via the headphone jack of your digital music device (i.e. no specific i-pood cable)
Funny thing is when I got mine, all I wanted was what they are selling now (but I can't be arsed trying to trade with them again)

i don't know if there's an OEM option for the MY05
but i would suggest that you go with that. might be a few more dollars, but it'll still be heaps cheaper than replacing the head unit IF you fry it...

Good point, the OEM option would be a lot safer (if there is one)
If you are desperate, I'd look into a FM transmitter for whatever digital media device you want to use.
That's what I use, my Garmin GPS has a built in one and I play my tunes through it with the radio playing on 105.4 on the FM band (Sydney)
