MY07 Amp Upgrade

Postby bambi » Tue Aug 03, 2010 5:48 pm

Without wanting to sound TOO much like an idiot....

I can't for the life of me figure out where the amp is in my MY07 2.5i (It's not under the passenger seat) and I'm a little stuck as to whether I will need to change the head unit or not for an audio upgrade.

And I've searched the forums already, but couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm blind. Probably, been looking at the computer for too long anyway :D

Suggestions?
Has anyone had these same problems?

there isn't one in the 2.5i

only the mcintosh systems got an AMP.

you can add an OEM subaru amp at your own cost if you choose to.

honestly though, the OEM Subaru amp isnt exactly the best. Do what I did, buy a decent 4ch, run the fronts from the amp and add an 8" sub in the parcel shelf running bridged across the other 2 channels on the amp.

heres a link with what i did: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8359

and heres a how to guide that i wrote up specifically for our model: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8395

i have no idea. i have never tried... but i'm guessing it should be a plug n play thing. if you jump on the web i'm sure you'd find some photos of the plugs.

the passenger seat might have to come out tho...

an aftermarket system is also an option. but i can't advise on it as i've done very little research into it.

edit:

the GTs and 3.0's came with the mcintosh

Not sure if you saw my above post, but at the moment i have the amp that i used for sale. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9668

If you get that amp, and get a small 8" sub in the parcel shelf like i did, its a great improvement. You may not even have to upgrade the front speakers as i think Clarence is running a higher end Alpine PDX-5 amp with a changed over HU and stock speakers, sounds great :D
