Sound Deadening

Postby Sentinel » Sun May 23, 2010 9:53 pm

OK, Melbourne had a deadening workshop back in Oct last year... Loooong time ago and was pretty successful by all accounts. I dropped in but didn't have time to do anything, but now I'm about to finish the landscaping to my house and will be looking for inside stuff to do given the weather is getting colder (and wetter). Soooo, what I wanna know is, who's actually finished their car (fully) that I can check out in the SE burb's? (And no doubt ping about all the techo questions...)

Cheers

Mine's all done Steve. Two layers on all four doors plus parcel shelf (which won't be of much appeal to you!) more than welcome to come round to hear it.

I've done my front doors only; the outer skin, inner skin, inner trim, and also the bootlid. It's a really time intensive task to do it properly, but def take your time I have rushed it before on my last car and it started coming off which required doing it all again.

I lost so much skin from my hands and wrists doing it :)

Count me in too, my Lib is just over 1 year old now, anything I can do to remove external noise I'm up for.

Has anyone attempted to do any soundening around the transmission tunnel. As it's a North South Engine I assume this is the reason you here the transmission so readily. Both on my old B4 & not the mid 2009 GT Spec B R there is no difference, it's still a noisey bugger! :bad:

Will probably be doing this within a month or so. A few members here tend to be using Dynamat Extreme... how much would I need if I was to do the front door, rear door and parcel shelf?

1 bulk pack should be enough to do:

Outer layer on all 4 doors, Inner layer on front doors, parcel shelf, and door cards on front doors.

If you guys have another SD workshop day I'm happy to come down and help again, if I don't already have plans.

Well I'm new to this web site kind of interaction, how do we move this forward, how to we define a level of serious interest then move forward (pardon the Julia pun) to get this acheieved?

Well count me in 100% as long as there is someone on hand like Jim who has done it before so we don't screw it up.
