Subwoofer upgrade for Mcintosh in my Liberty 3RB 4GEN

Postby kevin84 » Mon May 17, 2010 1:00 am

Hi guys, I tried to search a bit in the forum but did not get what I wanted. So open a new one.
I have a Lib 3ltr R Spec B Wagon with the Mcintosh sound system as stock. The problem now is I don't really feel the bass from the "subwoofer"(or superwoofer subaru call) but rather the bass I hear is from the speakers in the doors.
Maybe in the wagon the "superwoofer" is too far away from the driver? The quanlity of the sound is good, but I am just wondering is there any way to just make the "superwoofer" more powerful while keeping others things stock? Is it possible I can change the amp for the subwoofer to boost it and can the stock "superwoofer" take such extra boost from a aftermarket amp (I assume there is an stock amp somewhere in the car, correct me if I am wrong)?

Cheers guys!

good choice. But i wouldnt run it off the stock amp. Gonna distort like hell. No where near enough to run even 8" subs. Spend a little more on an audison Lx series amp since they're having a big sale n im sure you'll FEEEEL the bass!!!
