Info display clock - fixed!

So after driving around for almost a year with no info display, I pulled it apart and attacked it with the soldering iron - must have been a dry solder joint somewhere because it now works perfectly

I can't tell you exactly which component needed the touch-up, I just went across as many of them as I could :P

I thought this was mentioned earlier as the most common fix (By Ric I think). Good to hear you got it fixed ;)

They say it's a hit and miss fix... cos there are a fair few components on the board, plus my soldering iron isn't exactly what I'd define as 'fine tip' :P

Reminds me of those big soldering irons in metalwork, that you heat up with a big blowtorch. The tip was probably 3-4mm wide :P

pffft, 3-4mm? I used to have a soldering iron with a 3cm diameter tip I used in my previous job. Was for soldering leads onto 20x4mm copper bar for manufacture of transformers ;)

We didn't get to solder cables onto transformers in year 7 metalwork :P

WTF? How do you make sure a fuse is working? But then if you check the fuse is working, it will no longer work. So you would need to install a new one and then check the new one out... :D

It was a joke :)

But on a serious note if you've never owned the car from new you should ensure that no one has put an oversized fuse in any of the circuits.
