Sub controls on factory sat nav

Just looking for anyone who has tried to hook up the sub controls on their subaru DVD/NAV set up to an amp and sub so as to control the sound from their unit unit from the touch screen in the dash. Subaru would know but they only release that sort of info to the dealerships to install THEIR subs.

I've worked with a few people who have added RCA jacks to the factory harness so they could connect the subwoofer output to an amp+sub. I've also provided harnesses to several other people who "transplanted" an OEM AVN into models that had shipped with the normal HU, and many of them asked for RCA jacks to use the sub output.

See my pin-out table here (second half of post #11 in that thread).

I'm fairly certain that the sub out on the AVN is only used in a minority of cars that have a factory-installed powered sub. The sub out is not used with the rectangular under-seat style that has been available as a dealer- or owner-installed accessory for many years (which uses a T-harness to connect by "tapping" either the front or rear speaker outputs).

What do you want to know?

This is not the same unit as my 08 liberty, ill get her out and see if it has the same plug layout though. Ive heard somewhere mines a Kenwood DNV3200 Subaru system.

That picture appears to be the same HU used in recent USDM Impreza and Forester.

More pics here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/nav2.html

That type has the 24-pin socket which includes pins for the subwoofer output.

The OEM nav that is similar to the Kenwood DNV3200 is a different one, found in Legacy and Outback here in the states. That's comprised of the same HU found in non-nav Legacy/Outback, a display above that (with no knobs, just a row of buttons along the bottom), and a separate unit under one of the front seats (behind the glove box in Australian cars, I think).

A lot harder for thieves to find when you think about it :?

This screen appears in my set up and shows the sub woofer level toggle i want to work with the amp and sub i have ready to install. This will be so i dont have to change the level from the amp itself. As the amp i have does not come with a remote. Would you know how to set that up heard of anyone who has?

See my first reply.

You'll probably need to pull your HU to be sure. If the rear looks similar to this...

then you can add an RCA jack for the subwoofer output (into pins on the 24-pin harness that are currently vacant). E-mail or PM me for details.

Again, please see my post on NASIOC that I linked to earlier and read the details there about the sub out.

Updating this thread...

So if you have the satnav that looks like this...

Legacy/Liberty/Outback OEM Kenwood integrated satnav - front

The rear looks very similar to this...

and the various signals on the 24-pin socket are mostly the same as on the Impreza/Forester OEM Kenwood Navi HU.

See this thread for information about the satnav's line-level subwoofer output:

Subwoofer & Navi

In addition to the RCA cable for the subwoofer output, I can make similar RCA cables for the video out and A/V input. Contact me for details (e-mail preferred -- find link from my homepage).

Cheers!

I know that I might be a little late but that will be enabled once you get the original sub that is placed under the driver seat H630SAG000

Done it on mine, works perfectly, look at the thread "My Functional Factory Install then follow the link on the last page to my Facebook, there is a step by step on how to get the sub out working with $5 worth of parts from Jaycar.

The H630SAG000 subwoofer is the rectangular type that I mentioned earlier...

The rectangular sub does not use the satnav's line-level subwoofer output. The on-screen settings do not control that sub directly. You may hear some slight changes, but that would only be due to changes the satnav makes to its main speaker outputs (which is where the rectangular sub gets its inputs).

If you want those onscreen menus to work, you must find a sub that takes a line-level input. There are some recent (2010-2011) rectangular subs for Legacys/Outbacks which do that (in North America, at least). However, their harness may not have wires on all of the pins needed for the satnav we've been talking about in this thread. Probably easier to go with an aftermarket sub.

can make a harness adapter to install a 08-09 liberty navigation system that includes the audio headunit to an older liberty like 07??
