Have just taken delivery of a 3.6R Premium. Love it.
My one grievance with it, though, is that my latest firmwared Nokia E71 does not like to auto connect with it after the ignition is cycled. All the settings in the car and phone (i.e. auto-connect is selected on the car screen and the car is set as authorised in the phone) are correct but it will not auto-connect. Each time I get in the car I need to re-initiate a pairing sequence and its getting pretty annoying.
So, what I'm hoping to know is, firstly, whether anyone can confirm that the nav system is a Denso unit and, secondly, does anyone know how to activate the diagnostic screen. I'm ex-Lexus and have experienced exactly what I have at the moment with the Lib with many Denso-equipped Lexus models. In some instances, entering the diagnostic screen on the Lexus' allowed small changes to be made to the settings which cured the connection problem.
Can anyone help with this?

It appears there are a few issues with telephony and the cars... apparently Subaru Japan has worked on a fix for some issues and Subaru Australia is aware of this and it will be available as a firmware update.
This may or may not fix the issue you mention, but it would be the first step.

Hobber,
Thanks mate. I hope for a bit more feedback on this. Just waiting for a call back from Subaru Aus Customer Service on this to let me know if or how far off a fix is.
Love to hear from anyone else who has any experience with this issue.
Hidden Diag Screen: Press "Menu" touch top center of screen for 10 seconds. Type in 014220.

Just tried Hobber.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on the Aus system.
Thanks anyway, mate.

Ok. Found the 'hidden' dealer set up screen through the nav but, unlike the Lexus/Toyota system, there weren't any options for adjusting/trimming the phone connections. Bugger.

Could you post the details of how you brought up the screen?

turn the ignition to acc. turn the audio off turn ignition off (This wass just the prepatory work to make sure the audio system is off) turn ignition to acc or on press 'Agree' on the screen press the audio button (left rotary dial on the McIntosh) the nav screen should now display 'audio off' briefly press the left side of the screen centrally along the vertical plane and then do the same the right side of the screen in the same spot. do this approx 6 times (or until the screen changes) with about a half second pause between each depression. Basically, not too quickly. This will bring up the dealer setting screen which allows a few input sensor confirmation checks and lets you adjust the orientation of the reverse camera grid.

The failure to reconnect issue is acknowledged by Subaru Australia and is separate to the fact that voice activated "dial by name" does not work, I've started a thread at legacygt.com and have discovered numerous others with the same problem. Unfortunately, Subaru Aus don't seem to think that incompatibility with most of the world's mobile phone manufacturers is such a big problem. See also
That said, we've been promised a fix for the voice dialling issue from Japan, and the bluetooth reconnect problem can apparently also be fixed by a firmware update to the system. We've yet to see this evidenced but I for one am hopeful.

Thanks rsp8, It's an absolute shame because the car itself, besides its bipolar transmission, is a pretty good thing. I'm amazed that this bluetooth thing is such a concern because incompatability issues with some phones was resolved by other manufacturers years ago. Can anyone confirm that this Lib nav unit is Denso? I believe the USDM vehicles have Kenwood systems.

Just an update on this Bluetooth niggle.
Subaru Australia have released an internal bulletin outlining a running change in the production of the MY10 Liberty in the GPS/touchscreen unit to counter the auto-pairing issue. this can be found at: http://glennbatten.com/my10-liberty-and ... d-sort-of/
I currently have a new unit on order (4 month wait) via my local Subaru dealer. I am not being charged for the 'upgrade' as outlined in the bulletin. The transmission is still cactus but the electronic system has been data-logged to report back to Subaru OZ.
Not holding my breath for an immediate correction for the trans.

Worth noting that as per the PDF models manufactured after late last year have the update already applied... only the early adopters are suffering from this bug. The VINs and dates are in the above PDF.
(My E52 works a treat! Now, about that Dial by Name and map version!)

For Liberty owners with Nokia E71 and similar I have a 'half fix'
Before you start the car, plug the nokia supplied headset into the phone. Start the car. The phone will connect to the E71. Unplug the headset and the connection stays up until you power off car. Note if you receive a SMS message the connection will drop. Not much of a fix but better than building a new bluetooth connection every time.
