MY09 Factory Sat-Nav options....

Postby martyp » Wed Oct 14, 2009 9:59 am

Hi guys

Bit of a spin-off from the sat-nav threads:

I went into the 'maintainance mode' of the sat-nav (where it tells you if the handbrake is on, or if the lights or reverse etc)
and i noticed in there there's a hardware menu - you can test your microphone (says push PTT to test, i don't have a PTT, and surely don't have a mic) - but does this mean the sat-nav is capable of talking to a phone (via bluetooth or other)

I also noticed the 'traffic' hardware is grayed out - is there a traffic module?

Does anyone know much about these units, or where to investigate them - i hear they could be made by Kenwood?

I have the microphone add on. It's a KNA-VC300 which plugs into the Satnav and allows voice commands - about 100 different commands if I remember rightly.

The traffic is the TMC module which allows the Satnav to receive traffic info and route with that in mind.

I posted awhile ago and asked whether anyone tried the TMC module but didn't get a response. The traffic broadcast is available in the larger cities and not in Canberra where I am, hence why I didn't experiment with it myself.

Cheers

meh - voice commands, not fussed - thanks though!!

TMC module might be good, if it's not too pricey
