Hey People
Ive started listening to CD's inthe car and it seems no matter how good quality the CD is it tends to skip quite a bit (im talking real cd's not burnt ones, which i have also tried with no success)
is this a common problem?
im thinking of getting one of those lens cleaners to see if that makes a difference.

Skipping is not due to dirt lens, it's mainly due to misalignment of the laser to the cd. I have the same problem on a replacement mcintosh I got from subaru about a month or so ago.

Must be luck of the draw. Mine has only skipped a handful of times in three years, and that was only going over some very rough roads!

Mine started skipping on all 6 CD's regardless of type(mp3, CD, wma) the other week. The next day, gone! *shrugs*

Do you park it outside, or in a garage?
Was this straight after you jumped in the car?
Condensation on the laser lens could be the issue.

at the moment its parked outside because the garage is full of crap. but it doesnt matter when the cd is played, it still skips.

I usually park inside, but this time i was in Canberra and it was outside and bloody freezing, so yes, there would of been condensation in the air. Thanks for that Ric.
Mental note CBR is too cold in winter. I knew there was a reason i moved to Sydney.

Yep, this happened in my GT as well...
however, if you get a disc that is used to clean the laser... it helps quite significantly....

Mine does the same thing!! If you listen to the radio for a few minutes and let it warm up it is fine. WEird.

also a winter problem for me... put it down to condensation as well... it's a pain, but yeah, listen to the radio for a few minutes, then revert to the CD... and all is fine... shall give the cleaning disc a shot, and see if it helps at all... next winter!!

yeah I found them ok to a point when the bristles don't get everything off and you really need to open up the head unit and clean the lens properly. The stuff you use on eyeglasses soaked into a cotton bud works well
