I'm on the hunt for a dead/spare McIntosh amp from a MY07+ OR the cable from the HU to the amp from the same setup.

Really just after the 20 pin female socket or the cable to put RCA's onto.

Anyone out there with spares they don't want???

Craig,

It might be worth having a look through a Farnell or RS Components catalog. If its the plug im thinking of then I recon you would have a good chance of finding one.

Cheers

Gordon

Good luck with that.
I've been right through the Farnell catalog, and not been able to find the same connector.
Here's the pinouts for the power amplifier on my MY06 McIntosh, I determined with a bit of probing... ;)

Yeah, had a look at a lot of places online but can't find any DIN plugs with more than 12 pins.

It's the 20 pin thing that's the killer. :(

Ric, is that the CeNet plug on the back of the HU? I was referring to the amp end of the DIN cable. I thought the <MY07 models had only a 13pin DIN????

btw, this is the pinout of the cable as provided by Clarion/McIntosh themselves:

No, they are the two connectors on the amp. The wiring agrees with the two connectors on that diagram.

The CENET plug is wired like this:

This is what the back of an MY06 head unit looks like:

That connector is a real stumbling block. The only solution may be to cut the cable, and insert a pair of easier to get connectors.

Yeah, I'm heading down that path. :( But it's so irreversible.

Might just be cheaper to get the facia plate and a new HU. Don't have to deal with balanced signals, recabling and plug reversability issues.

I wonder if the fascia is more accessible from the US, Japan parts seems to have a random colour generator at their end. :angry2:

Well only 14 pins are used. If you sourced a male and female pair with at least 14 pins, you could always rejoin the original cable.

I'll sort something out. See if I can get some stock cables to start with.

I'd be interested in one too if you can find a source! :D

I called them and they don't do the car stuff but are looking into if they can source 'stuff' for me from JP or other parts. Pending a callback from a tech. *sigh*

I have a loose head unit sitting in my garage if they need a good look at the plug :)
