no i agree on that completely.

But whether or not your restricted to only having five playlists worth of music... (ie 5 Virtual CD's on the ipod) or access to the entire music library freely is the question.

Does this work with all Gen IV McIntosh equipped Liberty's, all the way back to MY04?

Does this allow full control of the iPod, meaning no need to create playlists ala the stupid EA1251?

There's been a lot of talk over the years where people have asked for this sort of thing. This could be the answer to a lot of people's prayers.

You can (must) use the iPod interface directly to select tracks... You have full control of the iPod, it's not aware it's tethered - it's just using the line out from the dock connector (and charging if you're using something other than a iPhone 3G or iPod Touch Gen2).

I believe this works on any Clarion Stereo with a CE-NET interface, which means every McIntosh that has the CE-Net interface... Definitely since 2004, possibly earlier.

It's definitely a simple DIY job - Plug and play - although I had the stereo place install mine since they were installing an upgrade Alarm at the same time (Uses factory key remotes and can be a pain to install)

Sorry guys - pics of install would be the most boring ever... There isn't anything to see (from the front)... I have the ipod cable and the line in RCAs terminating in the centre console - and I am afraid I don't want to take the dash and HU out just to take a shot of a small box plugged into the CE-NET port :-)

And this from a super keen amateur photographer (www.nzsnaps.com)... If there was something worth taking pics of, trust me, I would have :-)

could you not have 1 playlist of all your music, thus being able to skip forward and back.

sure it might take a while to find the song you want, but im sure the playlist size isnt restrictive.

If your referring to the EA1251 yes you are 100% correct. actually the first disc you select on the Mac is actually the entire libary on the iPod then the other disc buttons are the play lists clarion1 to clarion5 with the disc2 button actually being clarion1 & disc3 clarion2 etc

even tho there is no restriction in the playlist size if you have >3000 songs it can be a real pain in the rear to select the song your after or album :angry2:

Found these on e-bay.

It looks heaps different to the link Clarence posted.

Would one of these e-bay cables work on our MY04?

Cheers,
Rusty.

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know a source for the AIP-CL-ID in Australia? Its sounds like exactly what I need for my MY05 LGT.. I dont need to control the ipod from the stereo, or charge it, just be able to play it.

I just cant seem to find a source at the moment..

Neil, is there any chance of the guys you used in NZ having them in stock?

cheers

Dave

Hey, found this on eBay, wondering if it will work with my McIntosh unit and in conjunction with the steering wheel controls on MY09 gtb?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270505736290

If so was planning on getting an ipod video unit and also hook it up to the video input on the back of the satnav screen :D
