just wondering has anyone else done this?
i wanted to keep the stock look of the facia so didnt want to touch it.
my MY04 liberty didnt have too many features in the factory player anyways so i got a custom install into the glove box, the top left of it.
i drive around with it ope..but it doesnt bother me.

There's a nice compartment in the glovebox on the top right that could house a DIN unit quite comfortably, I think...

nahh I don't have any pics of it but I can take one. Umm the top left has that long tray bit and the left is only quite small..the bracket wouldn't be able to fit or something..so its in the top left..

I wouldn't be so chuffed about driving around with my glove box open all the time to be honest.. Maybe you should try finding an infra-red extender to place near the factory headunit so you can use the remote without having the point it at the open glove box...
I did this for my mediagate, which I keep in the middle console. The MG had an IR input though so it was simply plug and play, you're gonna need to check your headunit for one if you're into this idea.
An IR extender looks like this:
This flexible system lets you control audio/video components that are tucked away inside a cabinet or hidden in a closet. If your A/V gear is housed in a cabinet that's too shallow to accommodate the receiver, you can use this compact IR blaster to send signals to those components.
Beware of different plug sizes though.

My head unit is in the glove box and then my LCD Screen is on the dash (where the OEM sat nav is) so all I need to do is open the glove box to put CD/DVDs in, I dont have the glove box open the whole thing?? Who in the world would drive with their glove box open?? There is a thing called the REMOTE CONTROL that I use to alternate between tracks and scenes for DVDs.....isn't that the normal?? Its pretty f**ked up if u drive with glove box open!!

lol I think the OP was referring to having only one HU which is housed in the glovebox and thats the primary device, whereas you have a primary and secondary.

Haha thanks for putting me down..
I might just crawl into a hole and die now lol.
I got mine installed so that all the speakers are wired into the glovebox and the power is still going to the stock..but I can play all I want with it but nothing will happen as everything happens in the glovebox. I don't mind driving with it open..except at night when I'm reversing..the orange glovebox light reflects off the window..and its hard to see.
Hmm I like the idea of this ir thingy. Where could I get one from...?
