09 GT Spec B - Bluetooth? & TV?/DVD?/Rev Cam? on OEM Sat

The subject pretty much sums this up. I have just ordered a 09 GT Spec B. I havnt received it yet, but Im already thinking:)
Ive read through some of the threads, enough to educate myself enough to ask a few questions that I havnt been able to answer.

At the end of the day, I want to be able to see TV, Video, and Reverse Camera via the oem screen. I have read about the ports on the back of the nav unit, one for a camera, and one for video.

I have assumed the head unit is not dvd capable. Is this correct?
I also assume the ipod aux port is sound only. Is this correct?

Given that, I assume the only way to get tv and video onto the screen is to buy non-oem tv tuner and video source (dvd or HDD) and hide them away somewhere, connecting them to the above mentioned video port. Is this correct?

Also, when I ordered the car, the dealer made a big song and dance about how hard it is to get a bluetooth phone kit to work with these cars because the McIntosh system is "difficult" to get the sound muted for an incoming call. Is this true? It sounded like a huge upsell to me (being as it came in the same breathe as paint protection/leather protection blah blah blah). Is getting a phone kit fitted aftermarket that difficult?

Can't help with the TV/DVD/etc. but I run a parrot bluetooth with the McIntosh headunit with no issues! If the dealer can do it anyone can do it.

The GT-spec.B should come with the Kenwood 1200 Satnav so...

...HU not DVD capable, aux in is sound only and yep, get yourself a USB HDD media player into your cubby where you can plug into the cig for power and the aux in for sound. Then you just run a standard RCA video cable to the cubby from the back of the Satnav. While you're at it, do the same for the rev cam input and just leave the cable until you hook up a rev cam (saves you having to get at the back of the Satnav twice)

If you do a forum seach you'll find plenty of old posts which have links to pics of the back of the Satnav, how to go about installing etc...

And congrats on your purchase 8)

Cheers

Subaru pisses me off sometimes, if they bring something out on one model they should do the same on other models!
My sat nav was factory fitted, but not the "sat nav" model. So I didn't get the bluetooth or DVD :x

I've got a feeling that the current factory sat nav /dvd unit won't actually play dvds unless the car is stationary... who wants to just st in their car to watch dvds though? only good for the passengers :P

yeah, I'm pretty sure ADR's specify something along the lines of "driver visible DVD players shall not playback while the vehicle is in motion". Blardy hell, drivers around here have enough trouble paying attention to traffic without having a DVD playing to further distract them

I've got an MY07 GTB with factory Nav and used this simple hack here - http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.p ... =video+nav

I just used a pin and cable from an old 3 1/2" floppy drive power cable. Works for inputing addresses on the move, though not sure about the video just yet. Got all the cables to run my iphone for vids and music except for the audio input to the macintosh. I just haven't been able to bring myself to pay $130 for a cable that goes from a 3.5mm headphone jack to the back of the unit.. it's a massive rip off..

Hope that's helpful..

Yea this is a newer unit that has a better screen as well. BUT the reason the GT's didnt get it, is because its not compatible with the McIntosh. So yea we miss out on a better GPS but we also get a better HU.

The unit used in the GT's will not work in a 2.5i as it has a different HU. Its not superseded, just a different model....
