Hey Avon,

I thought you said JAPANPARTS only had these panels in BLACK and not silver ?

That panel looks silver to me ?

Cheers,
Lok

Yeah, I was told that they only had black. But it looks like I lucked out! Maybe it's kind of just a lucky dip. Cos I've read that a few other people have bought off japanparts recently and gotten the kit in black. Works out well for me! Don't need to change any trim now, hehehe

Hey Duffy386,

Nytrojen ordered ordered his AV panel set from Japanparts.com using the part number quoted for a BLACK panel and what arrived was the silver/grey which is what he initially wanted anyway. Please check with him on which part number he ordered from.

If you want to see what the finished install looks like, please feel free to have a look of the photos of my previous installs in my Liberty 2.5 sedan and my current Liberty 3.0R sedan which can be found here ->

Well... after a couple of weeks of shopping around and patience, I've finally got the AV panel kit installed! I was originally going to do it myself, but when my mate suggested PAC Audio, who were willing to install EVERYTHING, including wiring up and tuning the amp/sub for $180... I thought I'd save myself some headaches and just get it all professionally installed.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow, as it was dark by the time I picked up my car. It's still got factory speakers, but now with an Alpine CDE-103EBT, with the same Freebox single din drawer that Loweart has (incidentally, I got that drawer before I saw your install pics Lok. Guess great minds think alike eh?), and the iPod cable wired into it. That way there's no dirty holes in the glovebox (my idea :D).

They even ran the bluetooth microphone cable up the A-pillar, which works awesome, in case anyone was curious. Once I get a little more dosh, I'll replace the factory speakers with Boston SX series, and maybe a G110 sub. It's going to be a relatively "budget" install, but should still have some decent sound.

P.S: I know the fronts can be replaced with 6.5 splits... but are the rears 6" coax or 6.5 coax? :) :)

Craig and a few other should be able to help you.

EDIT - smart move on the install too! Looking forward to the pics mate!

NOTE: The sub and box is temporary until I get my Boston sub. Waiting on pricings and then going to decide whether to go for G110 or a G210.

Hey Avon,

Your Alpine head unit looks very neat in that install !

Yes, great minds do think alike in regards to using that free box :D

All the best with getting that SUB.

Cheers,
Lok

Cheers bud! The bluetooth is built into the head unit, so I didn't have to get an extra add on for it. I figured I might as well spend an extra $120 to have it built in than fork out $300 later on down the road. Also yeah, my mic comes out near the sun visor. Forgot to get a photo of that!
