Double DIN stereo upgrade

Hi All,

I see a few members have gone the way of The Double Din head unit in favour of the macincrap one for more features.

I found the Replacement panel Subaru part number# 107-209-006 on japan parts but am a little confused by the description.

It appears to be both the double din panel facia and a replacement air-con control unit as well?

Is this correct?

yep, for some strange reason Subaru have integrated the audio headunit into the air-con unit.. make sure you purchase the right one though as a few people have been known to order the wrong one.

ahh - I see - so the 'kit' comes with a stand alone a/c unit to run the air con when the mac is gone

makes sense I guess

Any idea what the 'right one' is? for an MY06 Liberty GT Sti Tuned Edition

huh? the head unit is separate from the A/C controls on pre-facelifted cars. YOu should be able to buy the stereo double DIN separately from the AC controls surround. Loweart's mod thread in here goes into a bit with a couple of pics

Just found an old email from japanparts from when I ordered my double din panel a while ago. I ordered:

I just checked too and yeah thats the part that you need if you wanna replace the macintosh unit.

hey guys i have a My06 lib 2.5i ( im pretty sure its a non face lifted model) mine hasnt got the more curved sort of head lights and that. my facia was a/c control and stereo combined( all on one). maybe the macintosh setup was seperate?

so it's necessary to buy the air con controls when upgrading away from the mac even with a 2006 lib which appears to have the two separate panels??

Cause if the air con controller isn't required, I might get a mate to make me one up as opposed to spending $500 on parts I don't need

Replacing the Mac head unit is one thing, what about the Mac amp and all the wiring down there? Has anyone really sorted all that out for less than the national debt ? I did this swap on my 05 Outback with great results, but that was just a head unit change.

this has all been put on hold now anyways - the head unit i was supposed to buy has been sold (even though it was on hold to me) and they won't be getting another one in for 3 weeks.

I don't believe it's sold separately to the HVAC, hence the exorbitant price.
