2004 Liberty 3.0R Mcintosh problem

Postby TitanB4 » Sun Aug 15, 2021 11:56 am

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a 2004 B4 3.0R. Unfortunately the stereo is not working, head unit turns on and off randomly. Have never had any sounds come out of it except extremely loud pops. I am wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues and whether my problem lies with the head unit or the amp. That way I can replace either.

Appreciate your insight, Cheers

Mine was a loose plug at the rear of the head unit.

I looked in the FSM workshop manual, link in my signature for how to remove it and put a little dielectric grease in the loom plug pin holes.

It was fine after buttoning it up.

Try that, but chances are your amp and or speakers are also struggling.

If so find another prefacelift McIntosh setup, GT & H6 models 03-06.

The amp is under the passenger seat.

You can find info quickly by googling this forum, like this:

Thanks for the reply.

I took the head unit out, unplugged it and plugged back in... No change. Went down to the wreckers and picked up a complete headunit with bonus inclusion of climate controls for $50.

Plugged in and all works fine now 8)
