You can get the tint cut so it doesn't cover the antenna.

If the tint is on the inside of the window, does it still interfere with the antenna? You haven't placed anything between the antenna and the signal so I don't know whether the tint itself would be to blame, maybe the tint installers nicked the wires/tracks while they were putting the tint on.

It doesn't matter what side a metal film is on, it will still interfere with an antenna only millimetres away from it.

Sure but then you will forgo the advantages of having metallic tint, I think one reason is it keeps the car cooler, and I think the overall finish lasts longer than regular tint. Unfortunately for me I chose to get metallic tint all round after hearing people say it doesn't make THAT big a difference to radio reception, and considering I don't listen to radio THAT much.. Well the interference is quite noticeable at times and actually does bug me.. lol oh well!

Ive just had a quote done for tinting my 04 wagon. $300 for metallic and $400 for the non metallic 3M Carbon Black . I have the radio antenae in the rear glass. he did say Id need the more expensive one . Does $400 sound right. I felt it was a bit expensive.

They will do the cheap tint on the sides and the expensive one on the rear. Anyone done this?

Im going for 20% .

Im in Brisbane. Quote was from Express tinting in Virginia (Sandgate Road)

I expect slightly more for a wagon. Just wanted feedback from others . I appreciate your reply. Do you have privacy glass on your rear passenger windows. My car has no tint at all . Actually probably embedded factory tint( cant tell though)

Corey @ Express Tinting Virginia is great to deal with. I recently had my 3.0R tinted with 3M FX35 by Corey and he also did my previous2.5i Liberty and my AUDI A4 prior to that.

The 3M Black Carbon is the DARKEST Non-metallic LEGAL tint film you can have fitted. The reason why it's more expensive is that the chemical dyes in it not only have to be more resistent to fade ( colour fast ) but it also has additional properties needed in rejecting heat and or UV without having the metallic component in the film. On top of all that, 3M tints come with a limited lifetime warranty.

If you had booked in for tinting there late last year, you may have got in with a bargain as 3m films had a special on and I saved $100.

I can't recommend 3m tinting film enough ( I have used their product on every car I have owned since 1988 ) and Corey at Express Tinting Virginia is a good guy to deal with also.

Cheers,
Lok
