New Nav Voices?

Postby spike2135 » Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:30 pm

Does anyone have any knowledge regarding changing the in-car nav voice to custom voices?? (Gen 5 macintosh specifically)

I was hoping it would be a simple case of swapping the original audio files (whatever their file extension) with new ones, burn a new disc and go.
I've had a quick look through the Nav DVD and, from what i can tell, it doesn't have the voice files on it... unless it's all bundled in the "alldata.kwi" file (which is possible i guess, but seems unlikely as ".kwi" are usually map content files)

If this is true i can only assume the voices are part of the nav firmware.

Any ideas?... or am i just wasting my time?

Yeah look it up on a eg Kenwood GPS maps forum, iirc the .kwi is a container file for all the bits and remastered updated discs are a thing :)
