Double Din touchscreen and facia

Postby Cappy » Mon Feb 12, 2018 3:57 pm

Hi guys.

Just purchased an 08 gen4 liberty.

Cars got the sat nav built in, unsure of what the stock head unit is, it's not the McIntosh or Kenwood unitthat alot were shipped with. It has Bluetooth but for whatever reason can only be used for calls and not audio playback.

Here's the stock setup:

I'm basically looking to get bluetooth usb and aux connectivity and probably the easiest way is together an aftermarket headunit.

I understand I will need some sort of facia kit that will have the aircon controls and stuff. I'm located in AUSTRALIA, and just wondering if there's a particular model I need and whereto get one.

Also, will the sat nav screen and that still work without the stock headunit?

Cheers.

Contact hardwarebob here for custom conversion harnesses.
Google svxdc’s posts on legacygt forum for head unit info.

Your nav is the higher res type that uses C2 map discs iirc...

You can probably make or buy an aux in for the unit and attach a bt receiver via that.

Aftermarket install...

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the unit does use cd's for the sat nav, there's a cover with a cd player under itbelow the normal cd drive.

So with an aftermarket unit will the sat nav screen still function? I'm fine with it if the sat nav portion doesn't work, but I'd still like to retain the fuel consumption Meyers etc.

I'i have thought of just adding a aux cable to it, is this the correct cable?

Says it is for an Impreza tho, not liberty.

Only issue I have with keeping factory stereo is I would at a later date like to hook hook up an amp , speakers and a sub.

Also, would the McIntosh unit be a streight swap in, I've noticed they are relatively cheap on eBay.

Would this be suitable, it's for an outback wagon,
